Course Description

Adobe Illustrator CS3 is a one day course covering computer illustration and its use in print and web-based media. Attendees learn to use the tools available in Adobe Illustrator CS3, how to work with objects, clip art, bitmaps (web-graphics), text, colour and more.

Who should attend?

Adobe Illustrator CS3 is aimed at users with some experience of illustration programs and the use of vector graphics.

Students should have the following prerequisite knowledge prior to attending this course:

Introduction The Illustrator inter face; Understanding vector graphics; Document settings; Using guides; Using grids.
Creating and Editing artwork Basic shapes, rectangles, ellipses, polygons etc; Selection techniques; Editing paths; Drawing bézier paths; Using pathfinder; Duplicating elements; Manipulating with the direct selection tool.
Transforming Scaling, rotating, reflecting etc; Free distortion; Envelope distortion; Step and repeat.
Colour Using process and spot colours; Using tints; Creating new colours; Working with libraries; Sampling colours; Blending modes; Transparency masks; Creating patterns and gradients.
Working with type Paragraph formatting; Defining type styles; Text on paths and in shapes; Converting to paths; Applying effects.
Attributes Using the Control Palette; Modifying paths using stroke attributes; Defining gradients and pattern fills; Using Filters and Effects; Applying transparency.
Additional Features Symbols; Converting bitmap to Vector; Introducing Live Trace; Introducing Live Paint; Introducing 3D effects.
